As I mentioned in the most recent episode of CAPE, I’ve been a big fan of Craig Ferguson for the last few years. Aside from his comic genius, I admire the man for truly making The Late Late Show HIS show and not just copying the style of other late night hosts. His story of overcoming addiction and taking his career to the next level after moving to America (the second time) is also pretty damn inspiring.
In 2008, Craig became an American citizen (he’s originally from Scotland, in case you’ve been blissfully unaware of his talent). Compared to those of us who were born here, he has a very different perspective having experienced all that America offers while being an outsider, so his choice to become a citizen carries a bit of weight, at least with me.
There’s very little I can say that hasn’t already been said about the events of 9/11 but given Craig’s love of this country, his take on what we are as a nation makes me proud to be born an American. Check out his monologue from September 11, 2006 below.
